The Crystal is an imaginary extraterrestrial object that crashed down on Toronto Beach from somewhere. The installation depicts the complete physical transformation of the lifeguard stand, but at the same time, the Crystal is connected to the lifeguard stand physically and visually. The Crystal converts the lifeguard stand into a surreal immersive space through its form, color, and materials. Visitors will have an exotic and extraordinary visual experience both outside and inside the Crystal. The outside is wrapped in pink reflective film whereas the inside is wrapped in silver reflective film. The Crystal reflects the sky, water, sand, and visitors while the silver reflective film inside reflects the lifeguard stand from every direction, creating a huge kaleidoscope.
